Mike Sinclair-Williams       

Mike has been working on high-profile mega projects for the last fifteen 
years leading innovative programmes across both the public and private 
sector. He has worked extensively in Europe, Asia and the USA. He 
currently heads up a multidisciplinary team providing leadership, 
direction and support to transport projects for the Olympic Delivery 
Authority. He holds a PhD in risk management from Surrey University, 
an MBA from Henley and is a visiting Professor at the University of 
Salford, where he specialises in teaching how to turn policy into practice 
in the real world.

 

Andy Smith       

 

Andy is the Liaison & Information Manager for Costain Ltd and is 
presently based at the Newbury Parkway Project building the new town 
centre complex of 46 shops, a Flagship Debenhams Store, 768 space 
underground car park and 150 flats.
 
He previously worked 25 years as an engineer and contracts manager 
with BT, 3 years as Senior Highway Engineer with Local authority, 5 
years as planning manager for Norwest Holst working with Severn Trent 
Water AMP's 2 & 3, Liaison Manager for 3 years for Costain Ltd at 
Bristol Water AMP 4 Framework Plus Tesco project at Braunton Devon. 
He is HNC qualified and Associate of the Institute of Fisheries Managers 
(AIFM).

 

Professor Roger K Venables

Roger is Chief Executive of CEEQUAL Ltd, Managing Director of Crane 
Environmental Ltd and Director of Venables Consultancy Ltd.

 
A Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist and Member of 
the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Roger Venables led the team that 
developed CEEQUAL from its conception at the ICE’s Environment & 
Sustainabiliy Board in 1999 to the Scheme’s launch in September 2003. 
He was editor of the CIRIA Environmental Handbooks for Building and 
Civil Engineering Projects, co-author of A Client's Guide to Greener 
Construction, published by CIRIA in 1995 and completed the update of 
the CIRIA Environmental Handbooks in 1999.
 
Roger is Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in 
Engineering Design for Sustainable Development at Queen's University, 
Belfast and Vice-Chairman of the Global Network for Environmental Science and Technology. In 2001-02, he 
delivered the third ICE Brunel International Lecture at venues around the world on the subject of 'Delivering 
Sustainable Development'.

Eric Hughes

Eric Hughes is Chairman of CEEQUAL Ltd. 

Eric has spent his whole career in heavy civil engineering working for 
consulting engineers and contractors in UK and overseas.

He spent some 30 years with BAM Nuttall including 15 years as 
Director of Engineering. In this role he was involved in the introduction 
and development of environment and sustainability programmes, 
knowledge management and innovation.

He has been involved with ICE for a number of years serving as 
Chairman of ICE South and a Member of Council.

Currently semi-retired he acts as a Consultant on construction, 
buildability, cost and sustainability issues.

Mike McHale

     
 Mike has been working in civil engineering and construction for over 
 12 years in both the public and private sector. Mike has focused his 
 career on occupational health and safety for the last six years and 
 holds the NEBOSH general certificate and NVQ level 4 in health and 
 safety. He is on the register of CDM Coordinators with the Association 
 of Project Safety and has been involved in CDM coordination in both 
 the rail and building industries. 

 Mike previously headed up the site safety team on the construction 
 phase of the high speed rail link between Amsterdam (Netherlands
 and Breda (Belgium). More recently Mike carried out a similar role on 
 the Orient Way Sidings project for the Olympic delivery Authority Transport Team. Presently, he works for 
 the Olympic Delivery Authority in the Rail Projects team. He is also member and a accredited trainer for 
 IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
